Back to Music Calendar...

Hank Mehren’s passion for music began at an early age. After 12 years of studying classical piano and composers like Mozart, Beethoven, and Debussy, curiosity led him to the world of jazz and improvisation. Post high school he spent 3 years at PCC, playing in the big band and studio band and studying with Riner Scivally and David Arnay. He then continued his education studying Jazz Performance at CSUN where he earned his Bachelor’s in Music in the spring of ’17. There he was mentored by great teachers and musicians such as Gary Pratt, Matt Harris, Gary Fukushima, and Tamir Hendelman and since then he has continued his education through gigging, teaching, writing, and arranging throughout the LA area. His influences from classical, folk, funk, jazz, and R/B have all contributed to his sound and musical spirit as a writer and performer.
